Morneau injured in loss

Morneau collides with Olivo The Twins tied the Marlins 4-4 in the eighth, but it came with a huge cost. Scott Ulger initially held up Justin Morneau on a Jason Kubel double to left, but when Josh Willingham had trouble fielding the ball in left he sent Morneau home. The ball beat Morneau and he was forced to collide with Miguel Olivo who was blocking home plate. Olivo missed the ball, Morneau was safe and even Kubel came around to tie the game. Morneau was slow to get up though and came out of the game after that inning.

34 and 34

The Twins are now exactly at that milestone record of last season, 34-34. It was the day they finally reached .500 and they went on to never drop below that again. This year the Twins could very well fall below .500 on Tuesday night, even with Santana on the mound. They're not playing nearly as well as at this time a year ago, and there's not much indication of them getting better.

Twins sweep the Braves

Even after 16 years, the baseball gods refuse to allow the Atlanta Braves to win in the dome. It looked like they had the victory pretty much wrapped up on Thursday night as they headed into the bottom of the ninth with a 2 run lead. Although Johan Santana had pitched a pretty good game, Tim Hudson was even better. He shut out the Twins through 7 1/3 innings pitched and was inexplicably pulled in the eighth despite throwing just 84 pitches.

Braves still can't win in the dome

If my math is correct, the Braves have a 5 game losing streak in the Dome dating back to October of 1991. The victory on Tuesday night brought the Twins back to the .500 mark at 31-31. Despite not playing particularly well, the Twins have managed to gain 2 games in the past week against the Indians. They now trail both Detroit and Cleveland by what seems like a more reasonable 5.5 games.

Last week the Atlanta Braves released Craig Wilson. This afternoon KFAN 1130 reported a rumor that Wilson's agent is talking with the Twins.

It's opening day! In case you're not a weekend reader (which is common), please be sure to check out the two posts I made over the weekend discussing the hitters and pitchers on the Twins opening day roster. This year I want to start previewing each series, so here's the preview of the opening series at home against the Baltimore Orioles.

Chelsea Cooley

Over the past few weeks more people have arrived at this site with the search phrase "chelsea cooley joe mauer" than any other phrase. Other than a snippet that appeared in the clubhouse section recently I don't really have any content that covers the topic. It's not something I'm too concerned about, and I don't really understand people's fascination with celebrity couples, but I aim to please. So, here's a rundown of all I know about Chelsea Cooley, who according to the Pioneer Press is dating Joe Mauer on a "semi-regular basis".
